bamboo’s new year greeting and moving on to 2012

Happy New Year everybody.

I just took a short break from the WWW. A way of balancing things out. So here we are- 2012 – A new year- the slate is wiped clean.

Few things to chat about..

1 We haven’t been posting shows because I like to think we’re still in our “Beta” stage when it comes to our live sets. So when I feel we’re ready and things start rolling..

I’ll keep everybody updated on the Bamboomusiclive.com site

2 No water,no moon on Itunes?… A very good question…no idea what’s happening …should be there by now. The question should be directed to Polyeast records. I’ll check again.

3 The big show. We passed on December for the launch because we felt we just didn’t have time to properly prepare. The holidays just got too hectic for everyone involved. Once we get a confirmed date I’ll let everybody know. So now it seems silly to call it a launch 2-3 months after…but whatever it’s called it will be something special.

4 I’m inviting everyone to be part of our website gallery. Submit a drawing , photo, painting…whatever you feel connects with the new album -No water, no moon. We’ll be scanning and checking each submission so if your work isn’t posted ..(for whatever reason) just try and try again. Submit to - gallery@bamboomusiclive.com

5 Thank you for all the Christmas and New Year messages. The holidays are always a special time. A time to reflect and give proper thanks. A time for family. A time to take a step back and take a long deep breath and get a clearer picture of what truly is important.

Some days I just wish there were more hours in the day- there’s just so much to do. Music has become a part of my life. And what a life it has become. There’s a lot more to do and we’re not even close to getting to “there” yet…So OUR story unfolds….

So a golden rule—pass the word—Music is to be shared- its something that should unite —never divide. On this 2nd of January as the sun sets and the 1st quarter moon appears…A healthy, shiny, happy, and joyous new 2012

bamboo went solo after breaking up with his band. a new era to share his story his music in his own way going to his jazz roots and the way he wants his music to be heard.  his single “questions” started airing on sept 22 in the philippine airwaves as he works out his album “no water no moon”.

the sold-out crowd of happybox and shadow entertainment filled the new venue in glendale & sang along with his popular hits and had a chance to listen to the new song entitled questions. what amazed me is the musical ensemble that surrounds him including the group of violinist who made the song ULAN a song you wont forget. singing “across the universe” also shows his beatles-esque influence to make him more well rounded in his choice of music.

meeting him backstage is an honor and when i re-introduced myself to him he responded “i know you, no need for introductions”. bamboo manalac’s down to earth personality rocks enough said.

will there be life after another band for him? you bet there is!!!

eraserheads, rivermaya, hale, NU107 then comes BAMBOO. it all comes down to the end when all bands found their niche, make that circle, enjoy the limelight, then comes the breakup.
indeed a shocker in the pinoy rock scene. after 4 successful albums who would have known it will come to an end. but as the band leader just said its not farewell as all of them will be continuing their lives and careers as a musician.
after 8 months from the band breakup Bamboo now a soloist is back in scene to promote his latest single release entitled “No water, No moon”.  Preparing for the nationwide release of the single “Questions” in the Philippines on sept 22 nationwide,  he will start the leg of the tour on the 24th in New York then Canada then back to California along with the Rap-idol Gloc-9 and the long awaited comeback of Glenn Jacinto (formerly Teeth).
so as i was left with just memories of images and videos during the coverage of the former band in 2008. here comes another chapter in just another time that Bamboo is back in the scene again as he polishes the finishing touches to his comeback album.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM POLYEAST RECORDS:
“From one spin of the most anticipated album in OPM rock this year, No  Water, No Moon, Bamboo Mañalac’s first solo release under Polyeast Records, it is obvious that for him there would be life beyond his career as a frontman.
“Teamed with the top musicians in the record industry, he presents his musical visions that go beyond his craft and says, “Nothing’s changed. It’s the same pressure that I’ve always put on myself. Whether in a band or going out on my own, or whatever I do. Just wanting to push, claw and climb.”
“In one way, Mañalac is getting back to his jazz roots, and in another way he’s heading toward to what he’s known for: mainstream pop rock  genre. Featuring the first single “Questions,”  Bamboo said, “I felt this was a good intro to the album because it has a lot of colors and instrumentation that we have in the album in just one song. The song is personal but I thought it spoke of human experience.”
“The first single will be released in radio stations on September 22, 2011 at 10 am with a simultaneous airing nationwide. Bamboo, who himself produced and wrote most of  the songs, has been in the United States for final mastering of the album and doing special performances showcasing his songs as this will also be released internationally. He’ll be back after the tour in time for the album release. Album release date and debut video will be announced later this month.”
